Dicta la tradición política mexicana que el último año del sexenio es el más duro, el más injusto, el más severo para el presidente que va a terminar su encargo.
Andrés Manuel López Obrador parecía haber escapado a esa maldición: llegó hasta el antepenúltimo mes de su mandato literalmente en la cresta de la ola: niveles de aprobación inauditos, una victoria electoral arrasadora, maximizada además por la mayoría calificada que le otorgó el Tribunal Electoral a su partido, una economía estable y una moneda sólida, una sucesora leal que apuntaba a ser una continuadora mesurada y conciliadora de su gran proyecto. De ensueño el sexto año.
Y de repente, cómo retando a la diosa Fortuna, el Presidente de la República decidió meter a fondo el acelerador para concretar una última transformación, que prácticamente todos coinciden es necesaria, urgente incluso, pero en la que no hubo búsqueda de acuerdos ni de consensos: la reforma al Poder Judicial que avanza a gran velocidad, cuál locomotora que no puede ni quiere respetar a nadie que se ponga en su camino.
La susodicha propuesta, que bien podría ser aprobada mientras usted lee estas líneas, ha generado un nivel de preocupación y zozobra pocas veces antes visto. Entre los argumentos serios están los de quienes ven en este apresuramiento un peligro no sólo al Poder Judicial (que vaya que no es admirable) sino al balance de poderes indispensable para una democracia moderna y funcional. No comparto los de quienes creen que el estatus quo merece preservarse, el Poder Judicial mexicano está podrido y se niega a reconocerlo.
