En Estados Unidos, las autoridades sanitarias de Oregón han confirmado el primer caso de peste bubónica en un humano desde 2015. El paciente, cuya identidad aún no ha sido revelada, contrajo la enfermedad a través de su gato.
En respuesta al caso, las autoridades sanitarias de Oregón están trabajando arduamente para contener cualquier brote potencial de la enfermedad.
Hasta el momento, se ha llevado a cabo un seguimiento exhaustivo para identificar y contactar a todas las personas que hayan estado en contacto cercano con el paciente y su mascota. A estas personas se les ha suministrado medicamentos preventivos para evitar la propagación de la peste bubónica.
