A diferencia de Júpiter, la Tierra solo tiene un único satélite natural que orbita alrededor de ella: la Luna, pero eso no quiere decir que no existan otros objetos que estén alrededor del planeta.
El espacio es percibido como un lugar oscuro y vacío. Alrededor de la Tierra existen, al menos, 21 objetos coorbitales que giran alrededor de nuestro planeta, pero uno de ellos lleva millones de años, el asteroide Kamo’oalewa, el cual fue descubierto en 2016 en el Observatorio Haleakala de la NASA.
Aunque suele cambiar su órbita con el paso de los años, siempre permanece cerca de la Tierra, además de que el sol ejerce mayor influencia sobre él que nuestro planeta, ya que se encuentra en la la Esfera de la Colina (una región del espacio alrededor de un planeta que domina la atracción de los satélites).
